While 2011 brought a bevy of storms and problems for most Americans, it is mindful to remember that after the storm God delivers a rainbow.  So it is with faith that we begin the 2012 New Year dependent on God’s faithful sovereignty, mercy, grace, and love, to take care of his children. 

“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Luke 5:4 NKJV

Trusting God to deliver a catch begins as we step out and leave the safety of the shoreline.   Fishing all night with no results, Jesus told his disciples to “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”   The disciples listened, acted, despite the rage and fury of the storm before them,  and God delivered the catch into their hands.  The fish were plentiful and abundant. 

Devoting your life to God’s will, word, and ways, begins as a daily need and desire to become more like Christ in spirit and truth.  To deny self, we must deny not only our fleshly desires, but our worldly concepts of success and failure. With God, all things are possible.  With God, the catch is always abundant and filled with blessings.  As we reflect on God’s goodness, we come to realize even during the storms of life, that what Satan meant for harm, God can turn around for good (Gen. 50:20).

Herman Cain was a 2012 presidential candidate who surged in polls of public opinion early on in the Republican presidential campaign after promoting his tax 9-9-9 plan, which replaced most current federal taxes with a 9% tax on business transactions, personal income (with exception of the poor who would be under a 9-0-9 plan), and sales.  He suspended his campaign on December 3, 2011, during an outdoor press conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and after four women accused  him of sexual misconduct, with a fifth woman confirming she had a 13 year long affair with Cain. 

The American people liked Cain.  On September 24, 2011, Cain was victorious in Republican straw poll in Flordia, with 37 % of the 2, 657 votes cast.  October 1, 2011, Cain won TeaCon’s Midwest straw poll by a landslide 77% of the vote.  He also won the National Federation of Republican Women straw poll by 48.9%, and on October 23-25, a Fox News poll showed Cain as the front-runner receiving 24%.   Afer the sexual allegations were reported by the women, public opinion of Cain quickly dwindled.

October 2011, Politico reported that two female employees had filed a complaint about inappropriate behavior by Cain during his tenure at the National Restaurant Association.  A settlement was paid to the women, and a confidentuality agreement was signed.  Cain denied the allegations stating, “I have never sexually harassed anyone and those accusations are totally false.”  

Cain also denied that any financial settlements were made, and latter confirmed that some form of payment had been made by the National Restaurant Association.  He called the allegations a “witch hunt” (Michael Shear; Jeff Zeleny (Oct. 31, 2011) – http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/31/) (Reid Eptstein (Oct. 31, 2011) – http://www.politico.com/news/story/1011/67233.html. )  November 2, 2011, a third woman surfaced stating that Cain, after commenting on her attractiveness, invited her up to his corporate apartment (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15566388 ). 

SHARON BIALEK ALLEGED CAIN WANTED HER TO GIVE HIM A BLOW JOB

November 7, 2011, at The New York Times and Bloomberg News press conference, registered Republican Sharon Bialek made allegations (with attorney Gloria Allred by her side), that Cain sexually assulted her.  Bialek contends the two went out to dinner to discuss her job search, after she lost her job at the National Restaurant Association where she had been a subordinate of Cain’s.  She desired his assistance in either getting her job back or finding her a new job.  Bialek stated, after dinner they were in Cain’s car when he reached under the skirt of her suit for her genitals and pushed her head toward his crotch.  After she questioned his behavior, Bialek stated Cain replied, “You want a job, right?”  Suggusting Cain wanted Bialek to give him a blow job.   

Further evidence of confirmation of Bialek’s story came forward on Nov. 14, 2011, when Bialek’s former boyfriend, Dr. Victor Zuckerman,  who was reported to be a registered Republican, stated during press conference about what happened back in 1997, “When she returned (from Chicago), she was upset.  She said something had happened and that Mr. Cain had touched her in an inappropriate manner.” 

GINGER WHITE STATES SHE HAD A 13 YEAR “FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS” RELATIONSHIP WITH HERMAN CAIN

November 28, 2011, Ginger White claimed in an evening interview with a Fox News affiliate, that she had a 13 year long affair with Cain, that ended shortly before his presidential campaign.   Urban Dictionary defines a “Friends with Beneifits” relationship, as “Two friends who have a sexual relationsip without being emotionally involved.  Typically two good friends who have causal sex without a monogomous relationship or any kind of commitment.”   This is just the sort of twist Ginger White’s story confirmed.   As Cain wrote in one of his books given to White, as a dedication, “Friends are forever.  Everything else is just a bonus.” 

BONUS SEX GIVEN TO CAIN WHO GAVE WHITE MONEY SUPPORT DURING FINANCIAL WOES 

 White stated in an MSBC “Last Word”, Lawrence O’Donnell,  news report, that neither she nor Cain had ever stated they loved each other, and that the affair was strictly a friendship between the two.  White confirmed, “It wasnt’ a love affair, it was a sexual affair.”  White stated Cain helped her out financially.  Cain told the Union leader that he knew White, calling her a friend, who he had helped out financially over the past 13 years without the knowledge of his wife. 

The NATIONALJOURNAL reported on Deceover 1, 2011 (Sarah Mimmus reporting), that “White and Cain remaind in contact through at least the middle of November, according to phone records she relaesed to ABC News on Thrusday morning.  She has said that they ended their relationship fairly recently.  “He made a comment to me [about running for office] – and he laughed after, so he may have just only been joking.  But I said, “Wow, running for presidents – - that’s pretty major.”  And I said, ‘I guess we won’t be friends anymore, huh?’  He was like, ‘Yeah, probably not.’”

Spiritual oppression is a subject the Bible directly addresses in Luke 13:11, “…and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.”  Jesus further confirmed in verse 16, “And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?”   Physical, emotional, and mental oppression, are very real problems that we all deal with during difficult times in our lives.  As the theif (Satan) comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; while God provides life abundantly  -  John 10:10.

Jesus Christ was annointed by God through the power of the Holy Spirit to heal all who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38)   He canceled out the curse of debt, taken out of the way through the power of His shed blood on the cross of calvary (Colossians 2:14).   While oppression is a weight of heaviness upon our heart and mind, God’s power to heal is steadfast, tried, and true, as His word does proclaim.  “If God is for us, who is against us?  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” – Romans 8:31

GOD’S POWER TO HEAL:

(Genesis 20:17) So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children;

(Exodus 15:26) and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

(Deuteronomy 32:39) ‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.

(2 Kings 20:5) “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.

(Job 5:17-18) “Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. {18} For He bruises, but He binds up; He wounds, but His hands make whole.

(Job 33:25-26) His flesh shall be young like a child’s, He shall return to the days of his youth. {26} He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness.

(Psalms 30:1-3) I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. {2} O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. {3} O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

(Psalms 43:5) Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

(Psalms 103:2-6) Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: {3} Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, {4} Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, {5} Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. {6} The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.

(Psalms 107:17-21) Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted. {18} Their soul abhorred all manner of food, And they drew near to the gates of death. {19} Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. {20} He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. {21} Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

(Proverbs 3:5-8) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; {6} In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. {7} Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. {8} It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

(Isaiah 57:17-19) For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid and was angry, And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. {18} I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will also lead him, And restore comforts to him And to his mourners. {19} “I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,” Says the LORD, “And I will heal him.”

(Isaiah 58:6-11) “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? {7} Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? {8} Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. {9} Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, {10} If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. {11} The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

(Isaiah 61:1-2) “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; {2} To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,

(Jeremiah 17:14) Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.

(Matthew 8:14-17) Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. {15} So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, {17} that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”

(Luke 6:18-19) as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. {19} And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.

(Luke 9:11) But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

(Luke 10:8-9) “Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. {9} “And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

(Acts 5:16) Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

(1 Corinthians 12:7-9) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: {8} for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, {9} to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

(James 5:14-16) Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. {15} And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. {16} Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

(3 John 1:2) Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

The author of the  biblical book of Genesis is not stated, but is usually thought by many theologians to have been written by Moses.  Moses lived around 1400′s BC, with Genesis events dating to the very beginning of time on earth.  God said, Let there be light; and there was light (1:3).   God created all that is and is fully invested in all his creation. 

God was, is, and ever will be, as is explained in His word, “In the beginning, God…” (1:1).  Chapters 1 and 2 of Gensis describes how and by what method God created  all by the speaking and the simple  utterance of His command.  “God said …and it was so” (1:6-7. 9, 11, 14-15). 

GOD FORMED MAN

“God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life” (2:7). with the creation of the first woman made from a rib of the man God created.   The first man, Adam, and first woman, Eve, lived in a paradise of perfection, an Eden of complete bliss.  This all came to an end when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command at the deceptive and crafty snake’s compelling and urging temptation (3:1).

Thus, sin entered Eden, through Adam and Eve’s disobedience of God’s command.  Adam and Eve’s first sons were Cain and Abel.  Cain murdered his brother Abel, confirming the depths of sin’s snare.  The Lord said to Cain,  “Where is Abel thy brother? and he said, I know not: am I my brother’s keeper? (4:9).  Each and every human is born with this sin based nature, which is why we on earth suffer grave and serious consequences of life and death to the physical body, mind, and soul.

Humanity becomes so bad that God sent a flood upon the entire planet earth, saving only righteous Noah and family, and the animals within the ark, which was a very large boat that God commanded Noah to build.  After the flood  and a  repopulation period, God speaks to a man named Abram who was chosen by God as a special patriarch of His blessed people, who were later called “Israel” after an alternative name of Abram’s grandson Jacob.  Jacob’s son Joseph, was used by God as a ruler in Egypt, which set the foundation of the events of the next chapter in the Bible, Exodus.

Thirty three miners were trapped in the San Jose Golden Copper Mine near Copiapo Chile.  For seventeen days, alone, left to ponder their ultimate demise, the miners shared rations of tuna fish and milk.   The thirty-three men laid in wait, sharing responsibliy, with structured leadership.  Never giving up hope, their family members set up “Camp Hope” living in tents, hoping, praying, their loved ones would be found alive and well.   Their faith proved worthy, as a note from the miners reached the surface from down deep within the copper mine to the surface of the earth, as the whole world watched and rejoiced.

Tuesday, October 12, through Wednesday October 13th, 2010, the capsule designed by world experts, began to lower into the depths of the mine, where one by one, miners were placed into the narrow, rocket looking capsule, being raised safely back up to the surface as the world watched in amazement.   A world seemingly distant was brought together in one accord, in watching the miners being united with their family, friends,  and loved ones.  The realization of what matters most in life was affirmed deep within the hearts of all humanity  by witnessing the miners rescue.   Affirming once again, “ Love is the greatest gift we can receive, and the greatest blessing we can bestow” – Synthia Esther.

Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

The miners had to believe in a vision of rescue maintaining unwavering optimism.  While the great minds and experts of the world had to envision, design, and achieve the methodical method by which to do so.  For sixty nine days the miners had lived a life of hope, and resilence, while being trapped alive within the mine.  Each time the rescue capsule went down one half mile to pick up and raise a miner to the surface, there were family and friends waiting and celebrating the reunion with their beloved.  Fox News reported that more than a billion people were watching and experiencing the dramatic rescue.

The miners lived burried within the mine for sixty nine days, which is the longest entrappment in world history.  As the last man out, Luis Alberto Urzua, 54, put the thirty three miners first, going out last.  Stating, “I’ll leave once the others are free.”  Said to be the chosen leader of the minors, Urzua discribed the entrappment, “The hill came down at 1:40 in the afternoon…then we saw we were trapped.  The confinement was like hell.”  

As I watched the news and Luis Alberto Urzua being raised to the surface, I felt I was watching a miracle of biblical proportions.   No doubt, God was with these men.  And their stories of cohesion, unity, and bravity, provide us all with an example of faith.   Rising from the tomb of being burried alive, to having a life of being physically born again, I thank God for the miners miracle of survival.  May the testimony they will share with the world, serve to unite our faith in God, and inspire a vision of hope within us all.

UPDATE – DECEMBER 4, 2011:

Eddie Long takes leave from his “New Birth” church due to family issues.  According to Fox News Atlanta report, his wife Vanessa, filed for divorce on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011.

Four young men filed a sexual misconduct civil lawsuit against mega-church pastor, Bishop Eddie Long.   Standing before a congregation on Sunday morning, September 26, 2010, Bishop Eddie Long, addressed a large congregation at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, giving notice that he will fight the lawsuit.  Yet, Bishop Long never denied the allegations posed against his charactor and integrity as a pastor, leader, spiritual advisor, and teacher.

Bishop Eddie Long speaks with an educated, charismatic flair, that ignites the fuel of fire in many who heed his words.  The congregation listened intently to hear Bishop Long’s statement concerning the civil suit, in which he commented, “I’ve never portrayed myself as a perfect man.”   News Reports of some in attendance, left disappointed, as they never heard a rebuttal of firm resolve from the Bishop.  

 Anti-Gay activist Bishop Eddie Long is married to Vanessa Griffin Long, who stood by her man during the Sunday Morning address concerning the lawsuit.  The age of consent of the young men is not at issue, as they are reported to have been over the age of 16 when the sexual misconduct by the Bishop took place. 

The legal suit claims that Bishop Long gave the men gifts, jewelery, and a car.  And during trips, they often shared rooms.  Gerald Rivera, Fox News, Sunday, September 26, gave a rather detailed report concerning the allegations against Bishop Eddie long,  stating in firm resolve, “He robbed from the church to pay these boys!”  Rivera called Bishop Long ”a holy hypocrite!” 

As we wait for the details of this case to prove fact from fiction, I for one, am put off by the fact, Pastor Long did not readily dismiss the claims set before him.  Leaving many to ponder, “there has to be some facts serving true  as his silence on the matter seems rather self incriminating”.   While time will tell the true story, I am ever reminded of this one cause and affect.  “Your Sins Will Always Find You Out.”

Trouble looms with an ever constant doom, as you face your giant in a battle of defeat or failure, or success and victory.   No matter the outcome of your situation your goal as a Christian  is to remember God is in control.  What Satan meant for harm, God can turn around for your good (Gen. 50:20).

Naaman was a mighty man,  but a leper (2nd Kings 5:1)

Problems face us all, as life is often challenging.   Naaman knew life’s challenges as he had a serious, and difficult health problem.  Jesus said, “…Many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except for Naaman …(Luke 4:27)   Leprosy no doubt, stirred up mixed emotions for Naaman requiring a new level of faith.  Being tested, tried, and serving faithful to the end, is a process.  Do you believe God for your miracle?  Or give up, and never try of overcome the giant who strive’s to rule and reign your life?

NO GUT’S – NO GLORY!

Let’s face it, it take’s guts to face the giant’s in life.    As we step out in faith, God honor’s our baby steps!  With each step we grow stronger, more confident, and self-assured, as we learn to depend on God, and not our own might or power to defeat the enemy.  For with God in control, we can do all things (Phil. 4:13).  Naaman was a great man, and God was about to increase his lot in life, and make him even greater.

WITH GOD, OUR BATTLE BECOMES OUR STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS

God does not make mistake’s.  When tempted to ask God why?  Turn around and ask yourself, “Why Not?”   No one person on earth is free from the woe’s, trials, and tribulations in life.  What ever God allow’s, He has vowed to go with us through the storm.   God wants us to grow up in courage, faith, and victory.   As God moves us out of our comfort zone, personal growth is always a by-product of His will.   Our life story of faith confirming, “He’s got the whole world in His hands”, yields our influence and power to face even greater challenges, and ever bigger giants.  People in turn notice what a strong and confident presence we exude.  As we ooze forth and emit, a shine, and gleam of armor.  An armor made, by God Himself.  And a strength developed by God.  Turn around and face the giant.   As God is with you, when you obey His word, will, and ways.

Elmont, NY, United States – It was a beautiful sun-kissed day  in Long Island, New York, as Drosselmeyer, Horse number seven from Winstar Farms, won the 142nd  Belmont Stakes today, shedding his 13 to 1 odds.  Drosselmeyer won the tests of the champion’s, as this race is all about endurance, and strength.  Verteran  jockey Mike Smith could be seen praying, with eye’s turned upwards towards the sky and heaven, thanking God for the win.  Smith repeatedly did the sign of the cross across his chest immediatley after the win. 

Drosselmeyer finished in a time of 2:31.57.  Winning trainer Bill Mott was obviously thrilled with his first Belmont Stakes win, as he told ABC Sports, “I waited until it got to the wire (before feeling confident).  It’s a great win for the farm.”   Drosselmeyer’s shiny copper penny coat was gorgeous, as they draped the white carnation winning cover over his lean strong body. 

Animals are close to my heart.   They must be close to Sarah Palin’s heart too, as she was stated to have been in the audience, possilby in support of the beautiful horse named after her husband, “First Dude” who came in 3rd.  Finishing out the winner’s circle in this exciting race was Flydown who placed 2nd.  Seeing Drosselmeyer win the Belmont Stakes gives insight into the heart and stamina this horse has.  Everyone like’s to see an underdog win, in Drosselmeyer’s case being the under horse.

Jockey Mike Smith riding horse Drosselmeyer remind me to always remember the winning philosophy Art Linkletter use to proclaim, “Do a little more than you’re paid to do; Give a little more than you have to; Try a little harder than you want to; Aim a little higher than you think possible; And give a lot of thanks to God for health, family, and friends.”  And for WinStar Farms, winning horses too!

I was in Walgreen’s today and near the check out area couldn’t help but notice the headlines of the National Enquirer’s boasting ad, “Obama Cheating Scandal: Shocking New Reports.”   Reports out of Washington D.C claim President Obama was caught in a Washington D.C. hotel with former campaign aide, Vera Baker.  The dark haired, 35  year old beauty, was reported to have gotten close to Obama in 2004,  after helping raise millions in campaign contributions.

SEARCH FOR A SURVEILLAENCE TAPE

An investigative search for a hotel surveillance tape providing evidence is said to be in the works.  Top anti Obama operatives are reported to be offering $1 million dollars for information to witnesses revealing detials of the hushed affair.  Meanwhile …Vera Baker claims nothing happened between them.  Among those offered money is a limo driver who has confirmed in 2004,  that he took Baker to see Obama in a secret rendezous at a Washington D.C. hotel.

IS THIS STORY TRUE?

There is now little doubt that John Edwards and Tiger Woods story in the National Enquirer is and was true.   But is the shocking cheating scandal between President Obama and Vera Baker true?  Only time will tell, or million dollar signs blinking in the eyes of one who knows will lead to devulging the truth about what really happened.
