George Tiller, 67, was the late term controversial abortion doctor from Kansas, who was born on August 8, 1941, and died by a fatal gunshot wound on May 31, 2009, in his house of worship. According to The Wichita Eagle (report by John Rodriguez, Tim Potter and Stan Finger), police and other sources related the time line of events that lead to Dr. Tiller’s death. On Sunday, May 31st, 2009, during the 10 a.m. service at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 7601 East 13 St., Tiller was serving as one of six ushers listed in the church bulletin who were handing out bulletins to church attendees as they went into the sanctuary. Minutes latter he was shot to death by 51-year old Johnson County man, Scott P. Roeder, who has now been charged with first-degree murder.

This was not the first time Tiller had been attacked, as he was shot and wounded in both arms at his clinic, Women’s Health Care Services, 5107 East Kellogg, by Shelly Shannon, who is serving time for her crime. Dion Lefler, The Wichita Eagle, June 1st, 2009, writes that Tiller himself remained reclusive since Shelly Shannon’s attack on his life. Yet his clinic provided the political fuel for both sides of the abortion debate which shaped state politics for years. Tiller founded and largely funded the state’s most active abortion-rights lobbying group, ProKanDo, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting abortion-rights candidates and their causes.

President Obama released a statement concerning the shooting.
“I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”
Warren Hern, Colorado physician and close friend of Tiller’s:
Warren Hern, (who now states he is “the only doctor in the world” who performs very-late-term abortions), is a Colorado physician and close friend of Tiller’s. Hern claims Tiller’s death was predictable. He is quoted on June 1st, 2009, by The Wichita Eagle as stating, “I think it’s the inevitable consequence of more than 35 years of constant anti-abortion terrorism, harassment and violence. I am next on the list.”

Dr. George Tiller’s record speaks for itself, as he has preformed late-term abortions, which have been noted by many to cost $5000 each. AlterNet,
www.alternet.org, posted that Bill O’Reilly likes to say concerning Tiller that he…”destroys fetuses for just about any reason right up until the birth date for $5,000.” He’s guilty of “Nazi stuff,” said O’Reilly on June 8, 2005; a moral equivalent to NAMBLA and al-Qaida, he suggested on March 15, 2006. “This is the kind of stuff happened in Mao’s China, Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union,” said O’Reilly on Nov. 9, 2006.

ARE THOSE INVOLVED IN THE PRO-CHOICE / PRO-LIFE LOBBYING CAMPAIGN INVOLVED IN A HOLY WAR? DID DR. GEORGE TILLER DIE A HAPPY MAN?

If success really is doing what makes you happy, did Dr. George Tiller die a happy man? Some wise person has written: “Success is a journey, not a destination. Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road – for then the journey is over and it is too late. The time for happiness is today, not tomorrow.” George Tiller was a man whose journey and livelihood in life included an abortion clinic that murdered babies, then offered funeral services to its patients. Such services were complete with the dead babies photographs, footprinting, handprinting, baptism, cremation, or burial. While my sympathies are with George Tiller’s family, as his death is an unfortunate crime to be sure. I question the psychological mindset of a man who kills babies for a living, then offers to idealize and idolize their dead remains to a mother who gave her own baby the death sentence. Why not include the services of a taxidermist? One who can stuff and mount the skin of their dead baby, so as to preserve their body for a “remembrance display” of false love? How far does one take the psychological denial of murder by abortion?

If happiness isn’t a thing in itself – then it’s only a contrast with something that isn’t pleasant. Abortion is murder. The murder of a baby, or an abortionist such as George Tiller, is not a pleasant subject. And if you refuse to part with your illusion of denial concerning this fact, you may still exists but you have ceased to live by the guidepost of truth and compassion. George Tiller attempted to create a false atmosphere of love, peace, and reverence toward’s the aborted babies he murdered. And a mother’s often depressed, morose mindset concerning the decision to abort her baby, all too willingly played into Tiller’s sick deceptions of validated false love. The difference lies in how they apperceive the abortion event — with the lens of past experience through which they see and value (or devalue) the sanctity of human life playing into their hardened, self consumed mind set of misconceptions. Such misconceptions arrive at the same path. If you weren’t shown modeled love when you were growing up, how can you extend and express the love you never knew or received?

George Tiller’s actions in my opinion, were an oxymoron of incongruous and contradictory beliefs and self delusions. Are we in a holy war? Yes, we are. And our holy warfare is made up of faulty thinking between right and wrong, death and life, love and hate, dark and light. These same facts remain at the core of all of humanities problems in life. Until we as a people come to terms with our desperate attempt to find purpose in evil intentions, crime will continue, evil will thrive, war will prevail, and death will ensue. These fear based solutions stifle our true spiritual core – based in love. What is the formula for positive change within the world? The only person we have control of is our-self. If we will focus on love and the spiritual good, the spiritual good of all humanity will prosper. What we seed we feed.
